  • Fill correct information

While booking an air ticket ensure that the information you are giving matches the information on your identity documents. If there is some mismatch in the name or any other information on the airline ticket and your ID proof it could pose a problem.

  • Inform Airlines about your specific need/requirement beforehand

If you have any medical condition or require any extra assistance from the staff during your travel it is always better to inform the airlines well in advance preferable during booking your air tickets.

  • Frequent flyer

If you are a member of any air-miles program or any airline or credit card do mention it during the time of bookings.

  • Travel insurance

Buying a travel insurance is optional and absolutely depends on customer’s choice but it is advisable as it helps prevents from the losses in case of any baggage theft or flight delay or other situations as per the terms and conditions.

LUGGAGE

  • Cabin baggage

Every airline has its set of rules regarding how much luggage is allowed inside the aircraft. Generally, a small trolley bag or a medium backpack weighing up to 7 kg is allowed. It’s always better to confirm with your airline about it.

  • Check-in luggage

Again, check with your airline regarding the weight of the free check-in luggage. If your luggage is overweight you might need to shell out extra money for it so it is better to pack light.

  • Restricted and prohibited items

There are certain items like items with sharp edges, liquids and others that are prohibited on flights. If you have any doubt on any of your possession better to check with the airline beforehand.

AIRPORT

  • Departure terminal

At larger airports, different flights operate from different terminals so make sure you know where your flight takes off from.

  • Flight status

Although most carriers take pride in on-time operations, flight operations depend on various external factors so before leaving for the airport do confirm with the airline/airport.

  • Web/mobile check-in

If you are travelling with cabin baggage only then try to check online to avoid long queues at the check-in counter.

  • Valid identity proof

All travellers require showing their valid identification while entering the airport and during check-in. Any photo identification card issued by the Government, Public and reputed Private sector is acceptable.

For school/college children their school/college identity card is accepted and for infant either ID proof of the parent travelling along or the birth certificate could suffice.

  • Reach airport on-time

Check-in counters at airports shut 45 minutes prior to departure for all domestic flights for all classes. Do make sure to reach the airport at least 45 minutes in advance.

FLIGHTS

  • Follow the instructions

The instructions departed by the cabin crew are for your own safety so make sure you follow them.

  • Know your rights

As a consumer, you should always know your customer’s rights as an airline’s passenger.
